Coach

Sam Caldwell

Coach Sam Caldwell enters his fourth season at the helm of national powerhouse and 2019 consensus #1 team in the nation, New Hope Academy.  Recognized as one of the top high school coaches in the country, Coach Caldwell has developed an extensive and proven basketball and leadership skills development program that consistently produces elite, college-ready student athletes.

Coach Caldwell made history in just his second season at New Hope Academy in 2018-2019 becoming the first girls’ basketball coach to win 3 Geico High School National Championships.  In this same ground-breaking season, he became the first coach in NACA sports history to win the NACA Division I Girls Basketball National Championship with two different programs.

He has been selected as the 2014 Coach of the Year by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), and as a finalist for the prestigious Pat Summit Coach of the Year Award.  He has college coaching experience from his tenure at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and Bowie State University, and maintains his standing as one of the all-time winningest coaches in All-Navy basketball history.  Coach Caldwell was inducted into the Hall of Fame at his alma mater, Luther Burbank High School (CA), on October 11, 2013.

Coach Caldwell has continued to hone his training and player development skills on the national stage as an instructor in the prestigious Nike Skills Academy, assistant coach in the 2018 Jordan Brand All-American Game, and his selection as a Court Coach for the USA Basketball 17U team.

He is currently authoring his first book entitled "What Winning Looks Like." His passion for the game is unwavering and you'll be hard pressed to find a more industrious and ambitious leader.  The best is yet to come!
